Grandma Charlotte's Carmels

1 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 pt whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cube butter

Combine sugar and corn syrup. Mix well. Bring to a boil. Boil for 7 1/2 minutes on medium heat. Add 1/3 of the cream and boil 7 1/2 more minutes, stirring occasionally. Add last of the 1/3 of cream and boil 7 1/2 minutes or until firm ball, stirring occasionally. Add vanilla and butter. Pour into buttered 8" pan. Cool and cut into squares. Wrap each piece. OR use for turtles or any Christmas Candy.
